Winter magic on the Grimsel Pass

From 28 December to 10 January we are open permanently. After that we will be there for you Thursday to Sunday until the end of March.

Travel:
The journey takes place from Guttannen BE by car or cab to Handeck and then with the cable car of Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG to Gerstenegg. The transport capacity of the Gersteneggbahn is limited. Therefore, reserve your ticket in advance at https://www.grimselwelt.ch/bahnen. You can reserve your ticket until 16:00 the day before at the latest.

From Gerstenegg you walk along the pass road on a ratrack track to the hotel Grimsel Passhöhe.

From Oberwald VS a prepared winter hiking trail leads to the Grimsel Pass. With the Grimsel-Shuttel there is a cab service from the church Oberwald to the hotel Grimsel Passhöhe. More info and reservation at https://www.obergoms.ch/erlebnisgrimselpass

Avalanche situation: depending on the snow and avalanche situation, access to the hotel is not possible, so it is important that you inform yourself in time. Details on the current avalanche situation can be found at https://www.slf.ch/de/lawinenbulletin-und-schneesituation.html#lawinengefahr.

Important: The Grimsel Pass and therefore the Hotel Grimselpasshöhe, is only accessible when weather conditions and avalanche situation allow it. If the accessibility to the hotel is not possible, there will of course be no costs for you. We will gladly try to make your missed visit possible at a later date, depending on the booking status. However, a guaranteed rescheduled date or compensation cannot be claimed.

Winter access is signaled. The hike takes place at your own responsibility. We constantly check the current avalanche situation. The corresponding signs at the Gerstenegg, in Oberwald and at the Restaurant Rhonequell are to be observed strictly.
